Benefits of Pilates Taught by a Physiotherapist

Here at Ballsbridge Physiotherapy in Dublin 4, we offer a wide variety of Pilates classes that are run by our experienced physiotherapists.

In general, Pilates can be beneficial for anyone of any age no matter your skill or fitness level.  Pilates has been known to build core strength, increase body awareness and overall well-being, improve posture, reduce your risk of injury, and help reduce or eliminate pain.

Physio Led Pilates

You may be asking yourself what makes pilates taught by physiotherapists different from other pilates classes. Our physiotherapists have taken advanced education in anatomy and exercise prescription. We also understand the nature of your injuries, muscle weakness/tightness, and restricted range of motion. We can adapt and modify any of the class movements to make them pain free and beneficial for you.

Our physiotherapists have also completed Pilates matwork training that is specific to physiotherapists teaching pilates, as well as more advanced courses on different types of pilates equipment and specific patient population groups. We focus on building strong fundamentals, and progressively building more challenging exercises in a safe and supportive environment. Our class aims to help build a strong core, and improve your flexibility and general range of motion through a variety of stretches and exercises.

Pilates Classes

At Ballsbridge Physiotherapy we run a variety of different pilates classes in person at our Dublin clinic, and online. We welcome all experience levels.

Our classes are limited to a maximum of 5-6 people allowing for more 1:1 attention and more intimate experience. All equipment is provided so all you have to do is wear athletic clothing and come to the clinic for class.  We offer Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced class options.  For more information, please see our Pilates page or give us a call/email. We would be happy to chat with you and schedule an introductory session to assess your level, introduce you to the fundamentals, and see where we may need to adapt or modify certain movements.

Pilates Classes

Our Pilates Classes are based on the Pilates method modified and taught by a chartered physiotherapist. Our success relies on our medical background and research-based approach to modified Pilates training.
