The Very Pink Run

The Very Pink Run is hosted annually in aid of Breast Cancer Ireland it is held in three locations this year Dublin, Kilkenny, and Cork. The events were held in Dublin Leopardstown 30th September, Kilkenny Castle Park on Sunday 1st October and Cork at MTU on 8th October. You could also participate virtually in your local community between 30th September and 8th October.

The events were family friendly with lots of entertainment and a festival style day.

Fundraising is a vital part of the day as it provides the charity with helpful resources for the year ahead. Donations help to fund pioneering research that will help the 3,700 women in Ireland who are diagnosed with breast cancer every year. They also help with the creation and support of their complimentary education and awareness programmes.

Tips for Fundraising- Use social media, tell your personal story, don’t be afraid to share you are taking part, add a video or live stream, connect to your fitness apps and post your progress, encourage others to get involved.

Tips for the big day!

  • Get Ready the night before.

Lay out your gear, gets as much sleep as possible – aim for eight hours.

  • Don’t do anything new.

It is not a good idea to try new shoes, new gear or new food and drinks, go with the tried and tested that has worked well for you before.

  • Stay hydrated- start hydrating a few days before hand, eat plenty the day before so you have plenty of energy.

  • Try not to drink 30 minutes before the run starts if you need to try to have small sips.

  • Arrive in plenty of time to allow a good warm up, start slow and stay at an even pace throughout.

  • Most importantly enjoy the day!
